What Is CBD?
Shop CBD Products HereCBD: The Second Most Prevalent Ingredient in Cannabis
CBD is short for cannabidiol. Next to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is the second most prevalent ingredient in cannabis. CBD is derived directly from the hemp plant, a cousin of the marijuana plant. It is a natural substance now used in a wide range of products like edibles and oils which may deliver a feeling of relaxation and calmness, among other benefits highlighted below.
What is the Difference Between THC and CBD?
The cannabis plant is made of two primary components — CBD and THC. THC makes you feel “high” while CBD is the non-psychoactive element of the plant. CBD may offer substantial health benefits, such as relief from pain, combating neurodegeneration, and alleviating anxiety.
For a deeper analysis, let’s look at the endocannabinoid system, or ECS. The endocannabinoid system helps regulate mood, appetite, and other bodily functions, the main function of the ECS, is to maintain a state of equilibrium, or homeostasis, within the body. When CBD or THC is consumed, both affect the ECS, but in very different ways. THC will bind to ECS receptors in the brain to produce a psychoactive effect. CBD, by contrast, binds to receptors in the brain and throughout the body. This can result in a host of benefits, both mental and physical. To understand this further, let’s discuss these receptors in more detail.

The CB1 Receptor
In a non-psychoactive state, CB1 receptors are affected by a neurotransmitter called anandamide. Anandamides connect with CB1 receptors and control the production of pleasure, motivation, and even appetite. For example, anandamide is released after exercise and is responsible for a “runner’s high.” THC’s structure is quite similar to anandamide in that it fits perfectly into CB1 receptors. This is why people feel “high” when consuming THC.
Because CBD has a different chemical makeup than THC, CBD does not perfectly fit into CB1 receptors. Therefore, CBD does not cause the feeling of being “high.”
What Happens if You Consume CBD and THC At the Same Time?
Research has shown that CBD can bind to your CB1 receptors, which, in effect, turns them “off.” Hence, the THC component is unable to bind with those same receptors. And while people experience these effects differently, CBD may help mitigate unwanted effects of THC.

How Do You Take CBD?
There are multiple ways to consume CBD. Green Garden Gold has a diverse selection of products so that you can take CBD in the way that suits you best. |
|
CBD Oils |
CBD oil is one of the most popular ways to consume CBD. For oil, most use tinctures. The directions are easy; just apply the oil under your tongue, then hold it there for at least 30 seconds before swallowing. While some oils can take as little as 30 minutes to take effect, others can take up to several days as the CBD builds up in the body’s system. |
CBD Capsules |
CBD Capsules are one of the easiest ways to consume CBD. Just like any other capsule, just swallow it! While everyone experiences the effects of CBD differently, you can expect to feel the benefits within one to three hours. |
CBD Topicals |
Our CBD Topicals include CBD salve, CBD patch, and CBD gel. For our topicals, just apply a dime-sized amount on the affected region. This method of consumption should work the fastest of all; consumers can feel the benefits within minutes of applying it to their skin. |
CBD Edibles |
CBD edibles are perhaps the most convenient way to consume CBD. Quite simply, eat it and you are done! CBD edibles will take longer to take effect, but it remains an effective and simple way to take CBD. Green Garden Gold carries delicious gummies and a cool mint gum for you to choose from! |
CBD Isolates |
Our CBD Isolate is a tasteless and odorless powder. You can mix this nearly undetectable powder in with your morning smoothie or in with your food. It’s up to you! |
