Have you ever been so excited for an event, A wedding, a party, Christmas perhaps, that you just couldn’t sleep? Have you ever been so stressed out about a presentation, or maybe a test, that you couldn’t get to sleep? Finally dozing off after many stressed filled hours, just to be rudely woken up by an alarm, seemingly mere moments after you drifted off to dreamland? Now, imagine this happening almost every night for some period in your life. This is the reality for people suffering from chronic sleeplessness, also known as insomnia.
My personal struggle with insomnia is real – very real. Ever since I was in middle school, I have faced problems being able to fall asleep, and staying asleep. When I was young, I used to wake my mother up in tears of frustration, crying that I. Just. Couldn’t. Sleep. I wouldn’t wish that type of frustration on anyone.
I have tried all forms of sleep aid – from medication, to more natural remedies. I stopped taking medication because I didn’t want to become dependent on it. I stopped taking Melatonin (a natural sleep aid), because it gave me odd dreams. Sleepy Time Tea can only get me so far.
About 3 years ago, I discovered CBD. I began to take it in tincture and vape form (using the VG line from Green Garden Gold), in an attempt to combat anxiety. However, I noticed after the first few times I took it, that I was sleeping better, and felt more well-rested throughout the day. I was shocked, and excited at the prospect.
Prior to my miraculous discovery of CBD, I was averaging anywhere from 4 to 6 hours of sleep a night. It got to the point where my body could function on almost no sleep, simply because I was used to dealing with fatigue and pushing through. I would be exhausted all day, and by the time 10pm rolled around, I would be wide awake – caught in a vicious cycle fueled by exhaustion (and caffeine to get by).
However, this can be detrimental to your health. Lack of sleep contributes to many health issues, and it was causing me a great deal of stress. Stress contributes to many health issues as well, creating a recipe for disaster to my well-being.
Once I discovered the wonderful world of CBD – I began to take Green Garden Gold’s 30mg CBD Oil Capsules before bed. I started off by combining it with Melatonin and Sleepytime Tea. I noticed that it counter-acted the strange dreams I usually get with Melatonin, which was a great achievement for me! No one likes feeling disconcerted in the morning/day, which is exactly what would happen to me with Melatonin by itself. As for the Sleepytime Tea, I really enjoy unwinding with a cup of tea before bed. I believed I had hit the trifecta of insomnia-bashing remedies. Eventually, I ran out of Melatonin.
I decided to give it a go with only the CBD and tea. Boy was I shocked when it worked just fine, even without the Melatonin! Not only was my anxiety down from the tincture throughout the day, I found a way to beat my insomnia – without pills! I began tracking my sleep, and am ecstatic to say I get anywhere from 7-8 hours on an average night. Go me! I don’t need the tea anymore, though I do still drink it on occasion, because I enjoy it.
This may not seem like a big deal to those who have never experienced chronic insomnia, but to me, it is everything. I have more energy, am less stressed, and experience less anxiety because of CBD. I remember my dreams – and not because they are strange. I drift off with ease now, and look forward to bedtime and snoozing away.
